On the Drawing Board - New Family Garden

This is a period property with a separate annexe built in the 1980s. The main house was a pub for centuries and now the garden is a space that four generations of the family enjoy on a regular basis.

Although the two buildings have been converted into comfortable residences, the garden and drive still have a more public feel and more utilitarian than rural idyll.

With areas in sun and shade for seating and play, borders shaped for easy maintenance and space for flowering trees, trained fruit, herbs and ornamental planting, there will be plenty for people and pollinators to enjoy.

  • New flowering trees and shrubs will be included

  • Extensive tarmac areas will be replaced with soft landscaping. improving drainage and soil conditions for the existing native trees

  • Rainwater from roofs and hard surfaces will be used for irrigation and directed to help create a range of habitats and increased biodiversity
